Lawson's good, but he ain't worth 21 points. Think before you type out a prediction like that. Plus, with the way Duke's defending on the ball this year w/Paulus uninjured and Nolan Smith locking guys down...Lawson would still be effective, just not as much as he has been against Duke say last year. </div></div>
What they don't seem to realize is that with Lawson in you are taking away the 26 points that his 2 replacements scored. So he gets his average or better and they still lose. And Zoubek didn't play at all and King only played 2 minutes. </div></div>
What about all the points Lawson creates for everyone else?? He's the one who runs the fast break offense. Fastest player in the nation, end to end. Being without him hurt more than just the points he would have scored.

He may have made 12 points difference, beating Duke in a close game--but I don't believe he makes 20-25 points difference, meaning UNC would win by 9-14 points based off of last night's final margin of Duke +11.
Also--as I said and I continue to believe--Duke's playing better on-the-ball D than they have since their last title run back in '01, and that's saying a lot. Everyone on the team can play capable D. They're smarter defensively as a team than they have been in the past 5 years.
That being the case, I feel that Lawson playing last night would have made the game close, but I don't feel his presence would have caused UNC to win by double-digits...I just don't. He's an excellent player and I wish Duke had him, but in this matchup and the way Duke's been playing D this whole season--I don't see it happening.

if ellington could hit the broad side of a barn it wouldabeen closer

If I run into the big P down at the Frosty Bossie in the next week, I'll tell him exactly what he is.
As I said before, Hans[censored] gets away with more crap than anyone in college basketball. Perhaps the most protected player I've ever seen. If you foul him hard, expect to either be ejected or suspended. </div></div>
Hansbrough is one of the best defenders in the NCAA, I dont see him getting away with anymore than Hibbert....and most protected, the guy has had like 2 concussions and had his nose broke last year against Duke(cheat shot)..but he IMO the toughest player in the NCAA
Re: North Carolina and Duke
Hansbrough walks everytime he touches the ball, to say otherwise is to be just a complete homer.
Re: North Carolina and Duke
I've said it several times and I'll state it again in this thread--the only difference between Tyler Hansbrough and Andrew DeClerq ("who?" you say? go look him up)...is the hype Hansbrough gets by playing at UNC. He'll be nothing more than an overrated version of DeClerq in the NBA.
Re: North Carolina and Duke
The only reason Tyler may not make a HUGE impact in the NBA is because he is not as athlete as other men there. Anyone who knows basketball can see that TH is extremely fundamentally sound. I don't see him walking with the ball every time he touches it.
It's hard for me to watch the NBA. They tend to leave out my favorite part of basketball...defense. College ball is where it's at.

Co-sign on that--I'll watch a crappy college matchup and enjoy it more than a marquee NBA matchup. But it burns up most UNC fans to think that a kid they've put up to deity status during his time at Chapel Hill won't dominate in the NBA...and Hansbrough just won't. I'll modernize my comparison a little bit from DeClerq to Brad Miller/Nick Collison. It's about the same difference.

You don't see him in the paint doing a jig while he head fakes 4 times and then goes up for the shot. And he moves his pivot foot everytime he starts to dribble before he actually does dribble.

Heres a good one he goes from 10' behind the line to the goal and the ball hits the floor once, and he take 3 studder steps befoer that one bounce, must be a slam dunk competition. And they go crazy dinking on IONA up by 34.
